Stefan,

I totally agree with you.

I am going further with the subject and I want to start a discussion
about this fact (strategy/branding/design), related to the Romania's
companies. There were some previous threads about this thing, but not
clearly focused on the real fact.

I am always facing with this scenario: a marketing manager from
a company calls me and says "I want a website." BUT!
There are neither corporate nor brand identity implemented, there is
not even a representative logo or whatever. About naming, they use the
name of the company as a brand name - in the 90% most of the cases - but
they are not using it so because of the result of their strategy. In
fact, here, the real brand strategy comes after the sales are somehow
high, the website comes much too late, it is not intended to be the
digital extension of their brand from the beginning, and it comes
because the concurent companies have one.

And here I am, telling them the benefits of a strategy for their
brand, and all related to it, the benefits from a corporate identity
implementation, and so on... They listen, agree, excited about the idea
and after some days, they call me to do just a website because their
sales are doing great even without a website... ;-) And it is not a
budget problem for the most of the companies I am dealing with.

Is it hard to accept others doing their strategy, is it ignorrance,
or it is just a matter of disinterest?

What do you think about this?

Best,
Alexandru DUTULESCU
