Hi all,

This is an interesting one and shows how important it is to do the
appropriate legal searches first (trademark databases etc).

Press Release:

Jetstar (Qantas):

And if I were on the design board of Quantas when doing the Jetstar
identity, I'd have asked 'Aren't those the first two letters of the Jeep
logo?'

Most big airlines launching low-cost offsprings seem to choose rather
poor names for the new brands. Does anyone else sense a
"low-cost - low-quality brand name" association here, or am I the only
one?

Yes on low-cost, and I named a "value" shoe company Footstar for the same
reason. Bought some stock, too. Unfortunately they are in Chapter 11
(bankruptcy), on account of questionable financial reporting.

But it's still a good company, and all things considered a good name too.

Did Navistar too, at Anspach Grossman Portugal. "Star" has always been
popular among namers, kind of a first-list default candidate.

My guess is that they want to communicate low-cost in any way possible,
even in the name...

I don't think I understand this debate - I was a graphical designer once
(I totally lost it now) - and after switching to the other side of the
table (starting companies) - I see that designers (Photoshop freaks) are
all about esthetics - and not signal power. EasyJet is the most ugly
cartoon cheap shit brand attitude - but the businesses kicking the ass's
of all the big MONOPOLY GOVERNMENTOWNED SHIT HEADS of Europe. Im loving
that - even though I have that logo, logotype, colors...

What do you guys think about the new blogger.com design ?
I think it the best usability matching the brand - and the new owner
(Google)...
<- Critics please ;)

Ps. I cant spell.
Pps. Im looking for FREELANCER

I disagree that designer are all about esthetics. Any designer who's
worth his salt will know that in order for a design to succeed in
communicating a message, one must know the target audience, the business
line and it's needs, the demo/psychographics of the audience and every
other possible detail about the brand and it's message. This is what
should drive design not just how something looks and feels. And most
designer's are know are responsbile, cognizant business people who realize
they play a vital role in the success of a business and aren't just there
for window dressing.

Jetstar also happens to be a reggae music distributor here in England.

Founded way before the cheap flights in 1978.

http://www.jetstar.co.uk

sounds more appropriate to me.
